| IC. Name: Amanda René Boot (nee Brocklehurst) House: On 1 September 1991, Mandy was one of the first to be sorted and without several more people ahead of her, she was feeling very nervous. Mandy hoped that one house would take her and didn't care which one it was! As soon as the hat landed on her head, the hat first thought Hufflepuff. Mandy was the type of person that would have fit well within that house, with her patience and her overall good nature. Then it continued further, finding that with those two qualities she also had an astound fascination for learning, an trait that suited her more for Ravenclaw than Hufflepuff and that was where she headed on the day of her sorting. Age: 37 Birthday: 12 April 1980 PB: Kate Walsh Physical Description: Mandy is of a mixed decent, but the Irish in her is the most prominent, giving her the red hair and pale complexion. Out of her siblings, even compared to her parents, she is the lone redhead of the bunch. As she grew up, her hair varied in lengths and currently it is rather long and still a rather vibrant red color, despite all the worrying she has over her children. Personality: (Please include strengths, weaknesses, flaws, likes, dislikes, etc. This portion should be around 500 words.) Mandy is always full of energy, even when she's sad or sick. She uses her energy to get her work done, put smiles on people's faces, and the rest is spent on Quidditch. Quidditch is usually the only thing that will make her calm and take her mind of anything big happening in her life. Since she pursued a career in Healing, Mandy has followed Quidditch to relieve whatever stress has built up from chasing her three children around. She is a quite generous person, always there to listen and help her friends with their problems, although sometimes when it comes to her own problems, Mandy tends to keep to herself. She feels that if she does share one of her own problems with someone, she loses control, and Mandy feels that she needs to be in control. Another negative trait that affects her on almost a daily basis is her need to be the centre of attention. As the only girl of the family, Mandy always got what she wanted. With that, she is also a very stubborn person. Even when she knows that she is wrong about something, Mandy will continue to think that she is right. This side of her personality typically comes out in arguments or debates. Mandy loves a good debate, especially if its about Quidditch. Mandy was quite an academic. She loved her classes, despite the level of difficulty that may keep others from taking the course. Her favourite classes included Potions and Herbology, mostly those are two of the classes she needed for being a Healer. Although it was not allowed in the class, Mandy would love to experiment with different potions and come up with something new. That focus has no shifted to cooking and she's been told that her cooking, however experimental, is actually really good. She also loves to read and can spend hours upon hours just reading. She loves reading to her children as well. Mandy loves her friends. They are the people who keep her the way she is. She will do anything for them, even if it means breaking the rules. Mandy finds that she can be friends with just about everyone, but maybe not the one's she is competitive. Her best friends are those who are very similar to her, and have the same interests as her as well. Although most families have varying ranges of relationships, the Brocklehursts are a rather close-knit family. All throughout her childhood, Mandy got along well with her little brother. They had their sibling fights, mostly for attention, when they were younger, but once they were both attending Hogwarts, the two got along famously. Mandy could very easily share anything with her brother. Mandy also loves her husband and children. If it were possible, she'd spend all of her time with them. Raising her chilidren has been a joy, although it took a lot of patience that she didn't already have. Her experience in being a Healer helped her with being a parent. History: (Please be detailed. Kevin Brocklehurst and Elizabeth Marceau were in the same year throughout Hogwarts, yet were in different houses. Kevin was in Hufflepuff and Elizabeth had been in Slytherin. At the beginning of their odd friendship, it was a mutual dislike. After several encounters, it did not take long for Kevin to realize that he fancied the bird. A chance meeting under some mistletoe sparked the romance, and eventually lead to a marriage after Hogwarts. Early on the 12th of April in the year 1980, nearly a month early, Amanda Elizabeth Brocklehurst was born. From that moment, Mandy was the center of her parents’ world. Whatever Mandy wanted, she typically got it. If she wanted sweets or a new toy, she got it. Usually, she did have to work for whatever she wanted, first seeing her mother and then when her mother told her no, she went to daddy who gave her it to her. It wasn't until another little bundle of joy that came into their lives in 1984, only two weeks after Mandy's 4th birthday, and coincidentally this little bundle was also early. At first Mandy didn't know what to think about having a little baby brother. It was quite clear that Mandy was not the center of attention anymore. As the years passed, Mandy came to love her little brother and she enjoyed picking on him and being a good older sister to him. It was sad, yet exciting, when Mandy received her Hogwarts letter the summer after her 11th birthday. Mandy was sad that she had to leave her parents and her brother, but this was Hogwarts. She loved hearing her parents stories about Hogwarts, especially of how they met. When she came to Hogwarts Mandy was sorted into Ravenclaw. It didn't really surprise her to be sorted into this house, and soon she really felt like she belonged. Each year was unique in its own way, what with Harry Potter in the same year as her. Quite easily she made friends with her housemates. At the start of her 5th year, Mandy's brother came to Hogwarts and like his father before him, was sorted into Hufflepuff. It was that same year that Mandy made the team as a Chaser. She loved Quidditch. At the end of that year, Mandy did as well as she could have on her OWLs. She was then able to take the NEWT level classes required of being a Healer, her main goal in life other than family. When the start of her seventh year came around, and her brother's third, Mandy's parents weren't sure about letting them return. Mandy begged them to be able to return. If she didn't return, she couldn't possibly be prepared to take the NEWTs and then be able to get a job at St. Mungo's. Finally, her parents relented, however as soon as Mandy and her little brother prepared for school, their parents went to France to seek refuge with their mother's family. At first Mandy was hurt that they had gone, but once news spread for the registration of muggle-borns, Mandy was glad that her father was safe from it. Hogwarts was a nightmare for her and for her brother. It was then that she found out about the DA and joined them, doing anything and everything to protect her little brother. When the war did come to Hogwarts, Mandy's first priority was to make sure that her brother was safe. After that she came back and fought. She was glad when it was all over, and even though it was, it did continue to bother her up until she was able to take the NEWTs. Mandy did well on her NEWTs to apply as a Healer-in-training at St. Mungo's. After years of training, Mandy went on to become a Healer on the Third Floor: Potion and Plant Poisoning. It was soon after she was finished with school that she began dating Terry Boot, a fellow Ravenclaw whom she'd been friends with since first year. They had a good relationship and in 2002, they got married. Four years later, Mandy gave birth to the couples first child, Isabelle. Another three years later, a second child Benjamin was born. In 2012, their final child, Matthew, was born. Plans for character development: (This should be specific and reflect how you hope to see the character evolve. When she became pregnant with her first child, Mandy left the hospital and has been out of practice since then. As her and Terry's youngest child is now 7, Mandy hopes she can get back into the swing of things at St. Mungo's. Or maybe branch out and start her own practice. She feels that she needs something in her life to take the place of her eldest child going off to Hogwarts. This is how she'd like to cope with that.
